Dear Dick Gabriel
A group I work with at NPRDC is interested in
purchasing Lisp capable hardware. In particular
we are interested in the Apollo work
station. Sandy Wells at Silma (late of S.U.)
tells me that you have a paper that describes
the benchmarks of various Lisp capable and/ or
Lisp machines.
Can you tell me which dialects of Lisp
support Flavors or intend to in the future.
Thank You
Stuart Gillard

(Please reply to bein@sri-prism if you get this.) I sent you mail
earlier today re: Franz Lisp Benchmarks from "pyramid!bein@shasta".
If you did not receive that letter, please reply to this machine
and I will resend the letter.

I did not get any other mail from you but the one from SRI.

Dr. Gabriel:
I am interested in obtaining a copy of the final report of the "Evaluation
Project" which was advertized at AAAI-84 as being available after
September. Please advise us on the means for obtaining the report. If it
is not yet available, a copy of the LISP benchmarks will suffice in the
interim. We are interested in using the benchmarks to project performance
of several LISP architectures we are investigating at TRW.
A reply to this address will find its way to me.
Thanks,
Dave Bixler

Dick,
Thanks again. I heard you are preparing a paper or report on your benchmarks.
I would be interested in getting a copy.

Could you send me a copy of your results on lisp system benchmarks?
I'm in the midst of arguing with other members of the department here
at U of Illnois about Lisp Machines (whether they are a win or not,
not whether brand X is better than brand Y), and really need the ammunition.
Many thanks.
Ken Forbus

IBM is very careful not to import any code unless all sorts of legal
disclaimers are filed, so please don't send me the benchmark tests themselves,
but please do send me the report you referred to in your message. I will
check with Mark Wegman to see if he has done any benchmarking that could be
compared with yours.
Norm
